Card Games: Quartet Group

You collect cards from other players by asking for them. As long as you ask successfully you can carry on asking. The object is to collect sets of cards, usually sets of four cards of the same rank.

• Authors or Happy Families is the basic game of this group, in which all the cards are dealt. In the variant Go Fish there is a stock of undealt cards from which a player draws when a request is unsuccessful. Versions of these games with different names and slight variations in rules are played in many countries.
• Literature is a more challenging game based on the same mechanism: this partnership game for 6 or 8 players possibly originated in southern India.
